Travel & local info
Travelling to Jyväskylä
- By plane: You can either fly to Helsinki International Airport and continue your trip by train or bus (see below), or fly directly to Jyväskylä. However, note that the flights to Jyväskylä Tikkakoski Airport aren't very frequent and there isn't public transportation from the airport to the city centre. It's possible to take a taxi from the airport (Jyväskylä area taxi service +358 000 6900). The trip between the Tikkakoski airport and the centre is about 45 euros.
- By train: Jyväskylä is accessible by train. The travel time from Helsinki is around 3,5 hours. Since recently there's also a train connection from the Helsinki airport to Jyväskylä (via Tikkurila). See more: https://www.vr.fi/cs/vr/en/frontpage
- By bus: If you prefer bus, you can either use Matkahuolto (https://matkahuolto.fi/en/) or Onnibus (http://www.onnibus.com/en/index.htm) services. Note that Onnibus is faster but it only leaves from the Helsinki city centre, whereas Matkahuolto buses also depart directly from the Helsinki airport.

Where to eat?
In the conference folder you can find three lunch vouchers, which can be used in any Sonaatti restaurant on the campus. Each of the restaurants serves a few different options, which change daily. The menus can be viewed at sonaatti.fi/en. The closest Sonaatti restaurants to Ruusupuisto are Uno (RUU), Libri (B), Lozzi (P), Syke (L) and Tilia (T).

Please note that the restaurant Uno, which is located in the building of the conference, might be crowded during lunch time, so we recommend you to visit other campus restaurants (listed and marked above) as well.
There are also two other restaurants near the Ruusupuisto building: Café Alvar in the Alvar Aalto museum and Ilokivi in the ILO building. However, please note that the vouchers are not valid in these restaurants.
For dinner, we recommend the following restaurants in the centre of Jyväskylä:
- Cheap-eats: Street Food Bar Taikuri, Pizzeria Maria
- Mid-price: Harald, Shalimar, Bella Roma, Revolution, Panza, Sohwi, Fransmanni
- Fine dining: Figaro, Pöllöwaari, Kissanviikset, Harmooni
