Students’ Engagement in School Life (STAGE)

| “Students’ Engagement in School Life” (STAGE) is a joint project of the Institute for Educational Research, the Department of Education and the Research Center for Health Promotion at the University of Jyväskylä. The aim of the STAGE project is to examine the school engagement and well-being of Finnish adolescents from various perspectives comparing, contrasting and further analyzing the data of two large-scale international studies (PISA & HBSC) and further exploring and combining the findings with the qualitative studies based on the interview data in order to understand students' affective and social dispositions towards learning, working with others and functioning in school. This is investigated in terms of students' feelings of enjoyment of learning and belonging and participation in school activities. Affective and social dispositions are also examined in relation to the cognitive achievement. The Project is funded by the Academy of Finland. |
